چکیده

This paper presents a new model for optical ow based on the motion of planar regions plus local deformations. The approach exploits brightness information to organize and constrain the interpretation of the motion by using segmented regions of piecewise smooth brightness to hypothesize planar regions in the scene. Parametric ow models are tted to these regions in a two step process which rst computes a coarse t and then reenes it using a generalization of the standard area-based regression approaches. Since the assumption of pla-narity is likely to be violated, we allow local deformations from the planar assumption. This para-metric+deformation model exploits the strong constraints of parametric approaches while retaining the adaptive nature of regularization approaches.

Motion Estimation and Compensation in Medical Imaging

This dissertation presents a framework for estimation of motion fields in 2D images, 3D volumes and multi-dimensional signal registration. The primary application is motion compensation for sequences of medical images and volumes with contrast agents. The framework implies motion estimation in two steps where the intermediate result is constraints on the local motion vectors. One algorithm gene...

Tracking and Recognizing Rigid and Non-Rigid Facial Motions Using Local Parametric Models of Image Motion

This paper explores the use of local parametrized models of image motion for recovering and recognizing the non-rigid and articulated motion of human faces. Parametric flow models (for example affine) are popular for estimating motion in rigid scenes. We observe that within local regions in space and time, such models not only accurately model non-rigid facial motions but also provide a concise...

Non-Rigid Multimodal Medical Image Registration using Optical Flow and Gradient Orientation

Optical flow models are widely used for different image registration applications due to their accuracy and fast computation. Major disadvantages to overcome for medical image registration are large deformations and inaccurate regularisation at discontinuities, which cannot be modelled accurately with quadratic regularisers, and an intensity dependent energy term, which does not allow for image...

Non-destructive Method for Estimating Biomass of Plants Using Digital Camera Images

Abstract Plant growth and biomass assessments are required in production and research. Such assessments are followed by major decisions (e.g., harvest timing) that channel resources and influence outcomes. In research, resources required to assess crop status affect other aspects of experimentation and, therefore, discovery. Destructive harvests are important because they influence treatment s...
